“For a single day next month, locals and visitors will be able to experience Paris without motorized traffic, giving the city over to pedestrians and bikers. Free of traffic congestion, noise pollution and vehicle emissions, the Day Without Cars will transform the physical and auditory landscape, enabling views and revealing ambient sounds ordinarily drowned out by the urban cacophony on September 27th.”
This is so exciting! One of the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is to ensure environmental sustainability. I worked under the Ambassador for the IUCN at the UN Headquarters in New York, NY for my internship during law school. The work that this intergovernmental organization does at the United Nations is important, to say the least. Mother Nature is so precious. Cooperation with her is essential to our survival and the survival of our future generations. We don’t know it now because we do not feel the repercussions of mistreating her, but something tells me we should not continue on this path. Rather, we should nurture Mother Nature as she nurtures us.
My humble opinion on one of my favorite topics.
